To solve the problem of climate change we all need to take account of our personal carbon emissions and make continued efforts to reduce them ourselves. But it is impossible to reduce our carbon emissions to zero, no matter how hard we try. Going carbon neutral by purchasing business cards from a green printer is a practical and affordable way to do something about it. Let’s face it, most business card web sites offer fast business cards or quick business cards but very few care enough to provide eco friendly business cards.
By voluntarily purchasing zero carbon business cards from Printeca you can actively reduce your impact on the environment and enjoy the benefits of our quality business cards. Whether you are a business or an individual, this is an important step towards managing your impact on the environment.
Perhaps I got your attention with this title. Not surprising as this is the hook that has become the norm in the online printing business, we use it too.
We won’t come out and name the competition but we know that you know who they are as no matter what printing keywords you type, they will always come up first. Because they pay to be there. I decided to order some products from the website in question and here is what I discovered.
The Free Business Cards that was the hook soon became $29.99 because I didn’t want their logo printed on the back of my card. The most economical shipping method was labeled ‘Slow 21 days’ and cost $13.50. The business card was not a standard 3.5″ x 2″ like everyone else in the world uses but rather was 3-3/8″ (an 1/8″ shorter) which is done like this to make it more efficient for the printer. The business card was a full bleed image (the image extends right to the edge) and I could see a hairline of the left side of the image along the right edge due to poor trimming. And lastly, the card was printed on a low-grade offset stock.
Ignoring the taxes I paid $43.49 for 250 business cards that are smaller than Printeca.com cards, that are on a much inferior stock than Printeca.com and that were trimmed poorly. The order came almost 3 weeks later and the service used was a lot more than it should have been (they used USPS and I checked). I would define this as Cheap Business Cards.
We do get calls periodically from users that suggest that they could get cheaper business cards elsewhere but the interesting thing is they still order from us. Why you ask? Because you will love our quality just like it says in the heading and we do offer real value along with printing your order carbon neutral. 250 business cards printed on a high grade 12pt gloss stock is $27.99 with the average shipping cost being around $10.00 we end up with a total cost for 250 high quality business cards at $37.99. 13% cheaper than the Cheap Business cards that started out being free.
Periodically we do offer specials and for the month of March 2010 we are offering a discount on Business cards where you will get 500 business cards for the price of 250. Go here to get the discount code and to learn more.
Your first goal should be to reduce your emissions as much as possible by doing things like switching off the lights when not in use, turning down the thermostat, driving less, and purchasing your business cards or printing from a zero carbon or green printer. Every ton of emissions that you reduce means one less ton of carbon goes into the atmosphere and when you purchase business cards or printing from us at Printeca.com you’re automatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, and to demonstrate that taking responsibility for one’s greenhouse gas emissions is straightforward and inexpensive, we have implemented a carbon neutral program for all of our online business card and printing orders.

We thought that we’d start up a weekly contest for the “Printeca.com card of the week!” Don’t get too excited – there aren’t any prizes…Ha! Just some really cool ideas for business cards.
So here is the winner for this week. The yoga teacher’s card.
When you first meet with a prospect you usually exchange business cards so your business card should be designed in such a way that it leaves a lasting impression on the person who receives it. The design of your business card goes way beyond just the look you’ve created as the text and imagery on the card is also extremely important since the information contained is often scrutinized in detail. To reap the full benefit from your business cards, you should design them to market you and your core competency. Take full advantage of both sides of the card to communicate effectively, efficiently and memorably.
Someone mentioned to me the other day that they see no need for business cards if one has a cell phone or in particular an iphone!
Here is my thoughts on that…
Having a smart phone such as a blackberry or iphone is a dramatic improvement from the early cell phones that forced us to re-enter all our contacts each time we switched devices, manually re-entering everyone and making our deletes of outdated or unwanted contacts laboriously. Applications such as Bump for the iphone or microsoft tags and QRcodes make getting a persons information into our device much easier however is that really where business contacts should be?
I know that in my personal life I love having my friends and family information at my fingertips on my phone but do I want hundreds of work related contacts with me at all times. Sharing these contacts and grouping these contacts becomes an issue as well as contacting any of them with my now revealed cell number makes be accessible when I don’t want to be.
I of course do have professional relationships that warrant the information to be on my portable device but when I am at work looking for something in particular, I consult my business card folder and thumb to the appropriate group and then looking at the business card which tells me about the service along with graphic design and images that tell me something about the person or companies asthetic, I decide who to call.
Business cards may not have the cache that they once had but they are still relevant in this day and age.
Do you want your bank representitive to bump his info to you, or your mechanic or your house painter?
Business cards can be an very effective visual representation of you. Data on your phone at this point is just that.
